The Spacious Update: a bigger sea, a classic board, stacking multipliers

One night of changes aimed at the same feeling: room to sail, reasons to hunt, and growth you can actually watch happen.

The sea got 2.7 times bigger

The default arena grew from a 1,450-unit radius to 2,400 — about 2.7 times the area — with the same thirty-two captains. Every worm has roughly triple the sea room, the camera sits further back and follows with a softer glide, and you can now zoom with the mouse wheel (or a pinch) from a close-up to a wide tactical view. The zoom has a hard fairness ceiling: nobody, at any setting, can see further than the server sends, so a zoomed-out player never spots you before you could spot them.

Honeycomb Cove: the classic board

A third board joined the fleet: Honeycomb Cove, the classic worm arena — no landmarks, no objectives, just you, the treasure, and the crowd on a golden honeycomb sea floor. It sits one tap from PLAY on the launcher beside Open Seas and Black Pearl Relay, and public matchmaking now respects your board choice, so picking it always lands you in a honeycomb room.

Multipliers that stack with no cap

A dozen multiplier tokens now drift across the whole arena — ×2 commonly, up through a rare ×10 jackpot. Each pickup adds its time to that tier's own clock: a ×2 lasts twenty seconds, a second ×2 makes it forty, with no limit. Different tiers run at the same time and multiply together, and your active stack shows as gold chips at the top of the screen with a combined total. Ordinary treasure got richer too, so every mouthful visibly matters.

Growth that looks like growing

Vacuuming a fallen rival's hoard used to inflate a worm like a balloon — the whole gain applied in a single tick. The drawn body now swells smoothly toward its true size while the game underneath stays exact: collisions, pickups, and the server always use the real mass. The face also sits properly on the neck at every heading now, and tails end in a rounded cap instead of a needle.

Honest notes

Frame pacing held a measured 60fps with everything above active, and the honeycomb floor costs one pattern fill per frame by design. Multiplier chips are visible only to you — rivals never see your stack. Everything here is free and applies to every player equally; see how to play for the updated controls.
