Frequently asked questions
Every answer below is true of the build you can play right now — not a roadmap, not an aspiration. When the game changes, this page changes.
The questions
- Is Wormifi really free?
- Yes. The game, both boards, all three paces, live rooms, and every current skin theme are free. There are no ads before play and no account. If we ever sell anything, it will be cosmetics only — never speed, size, or any advantage.
- Do I need to download anything?
- No. Wormifi runs in any modern browser on desktop or mobile. Installing to your phone's home screen is optional; it adds an icon, full-screen play, and offline solo modes.
- Does Wormifi work offline?
- The solo modes do — 90-second rush, endless, and practice — once you've installed the game to your home screen or desktop. Live multiplayer needs a connection because a server referees it.
- What ends a run?
- Your head striking another crew. Your head is your only weakness; your body is your weapon. If a rival's head strikes YOUR crew, they're cut and their mass drops as treasure where they fell.
- What does sprinting cost?
- Sprint runs at 2.0x speed and burns 4 size per second, and the spent size drops behind you as collectable wake loot in your colour. Speed is a purchase, not a freebie.
- Are the other players real people?
- The live room shows the honest count — connected humans and labeled AI backfill, separately. When it says 1 HUMAN, you're the human, and every bot wears an AI tag.
- Can I play with friends?
- Yes — friend rooms. Share a room code or invite link; the same code lands everyone in the same live arena. One board and one pace apply to the whole room.
- What are the boards and paces?
- Two boards: Open Seas (classic free-roam) and the Black Pearl Relay (two wrap-and-charge capstan objectives). Three paces per live room: Harbor (patient default), Classic, and Tempest (high pressure).
- Are my photo skins visible to other players?
- Never. Photo skins are processed and stored only in your browser on your device. Other captains see only your chosen theme. Photos never upload.
- Is there a replay?
- Every local solo run ends with an exact six-second replay of your finish, rebuilt from the run itself — not a screen recording.
