Skins in Wormifi: materials, photos, privacy

A skin is how the arena recognizes you before it reads your name. Here's everything the Skin Studio does — and the two promises underneath it.

Animated materials, not palette swaps

Every theme is a moving material painted along your crew — flowing tidal ribbon, sweeping crown gleam, sonar blooms, faceted glints, marching chevrons, ghost ripples, flame licks, jumping lightning, a rotating spiral — each rated by visual complexity: standard, RARE, LEGEND. In live rooms your material is visible to every captain; it's your flag. The devlog covers the engineering, including the frame-budget rules that keep skins from costing performance.

Your device, your motion

The studio's MATERIAL MOTION panel sets Full, Subtle, or Off, plus a lantern-glow toggle, per device — because the right setting on a gaming desktop is the wrong one on an older phone. Your settings change how your screen paints everyone; other captains still see your theme, painted at their own settings. Players with reduced-motion enabled at the system level get still materials automatically, no configuration required.

Photo skins and the privacy line

You can dress your crew in your own photos — and this is where the hard promise lives: photos are processed and stored only in your browser on your device. They never upload. Other players never see them; they see your chosen theme only. Withdrawing consent deletes every stored copy immediately. The second promise is economic: skins are cosmetic forever. Nothing in the wardrobe — free or premium — changes a collision, a speed, or a size. That line is written down in the devlog where we can't unwrite it.
